Family & Cultural Heritage
Padmaja is the daughter of the House of Mewar, the former royal house of Udaipur, Rajasthan, India.
The lineage of Mewar traces the origin of the Mewar Dynasty from Surya (The Sun God). As one of the oldest serving dynasties, it traces its roots to Guhil (Guhaditya) in A.D. ca.569. Historically speaking, the ancestry of the House of Mewar originates from the great warrior, Bappa Rawal, who was entrusted with the right to administer and function as Trustee of the State of Mewar by his Guru, Harit Rashi in 773 CE. The centuries, which passed from then on, have seen many turbulent years of defensive struggle in the battlefield to protect the honor of the State of Mewar by successive rulers.
Eternal Mewar covers all the activities of the House of Mewar and was conceptualized to provide the vision for the 21st century. It expresses, embodies and encompasses the core values, principles and the legacy of the House of Mewar.
Padmaja’s grandfather, Maharana Bhagwat Singh Mewar, also founded the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, an initiative of the custodian of the House of Mewar for perpetuation of its core values such as service to society and mankind. It also serves as a 'temple of inspiration' for future generations and continues the model of sustainability that is 'Eternal Mewar'.
Padmaja’s father, Arvind Singh Mewar, is the 76th and current custodian of the House of Mewar.
